Hosts Pat Simpson and Jodi Marks show how to install a new, safer garage door that has been designed for do-it-yourselfers. For safety reasons, they recommend hiring professionals to remove the old door.

Take Measurements

  1. We began by taking the measurements of the door opening. We started by measuring the door opening width and height.
  2. Next, we measured for the side room for the installation of the vertical track and the spring.
  3. We then measured for the headroom, which is the distance between the top of the door opening and the ceiling. You should have about 10 to 12 inches of headroom available depending on the spring system you’re installing.
  4. Finally, we measured for the backroom. You need at least the door height plus 18 inches for proper installation.

Prepare Door Sections

  1. Our first step in preparing the door sections was to temporarily attach the stops to both sides of our opening.
  2. Laying the first section over covered sawhorses, we attached the hardware using the supplied sheet metal screws.
  3. Next, we attached the #1 hinge to the pre-punched holes along the top edge of the section.
  4. We attached a lift handle on both sides of the door section using the supplied fasteners.
  5. Next, we carefully lifted and set the bottom section in the opening so that it was centered from side to side against the stop molding.
  6. We used a 4′ level to be sure that our door section was level.
  7. To temporarily hold the section in place, we drove a16d nail into the frame and bent it over the section.

Install Door Sections

  1. We placed the second panel on top of the first and drove nails into the side jambs to hold it in place; then we installed the third section. Be sure to check the numbers on the hinges and install them in the proper order.
  2. When we got to the last panel, we placed it over the sawhorses and attached the top roller bracket.
  3. We then placed the last door panel on top of the others, drove in a nail for temporary support, and attached the hinges from the top of the previous section to the bottom of the last section (figure A).
  4. Finally, we placed a roller in the top and bottom brackets and in the outer tubes in each of the hinges at the ends of each section.

Install Torsion Springs

  1. We began assembling the torsion tube by pushing the tube sections firmly together in the coupler, drilling pilot holes and securing them with screws.
  2. We prepared the torsion spring assembly by sliding the torsion spring, winding unit and cable drums onto the shaft.
  3. We carefully placed the spring assembly and tube in each bracket above the door (figure E) and then tightened the screws in the cone to the torsion tube before securing the spring to the bracket.
  4. We attached the cables starting with the left side. We pulled the cable up from the bottom bracket and tightened the setscrew on the drum.
  5. Next, we inserted our drill into the winding unit and wound the appropriate number of turns to set the tension for the spring.
  6. Finally, we installed the tube retainers on either side of the door.

Final Touches

  1. We secured the stop molding around the perimeter of both garage openings using 3d galvanized finishing nails. The stop molding will help seal the garage from the elements.
  2. To attach the interior slide bolt, we secured it with screws on the end style of the door and then tested its operation. We repeated the same procedure for the slide bolt lock on the other garage door.
  3. To finish this project we applied a coat of primer to the raw wood trim around our opening. After it had completely dried we applied a finish coat of paint.

Fairness On The Radio

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 1:31 am

I was listening to the radio on the way back home this evening. The topic of discussion was the Fairness Doctorine. It seems that no one is listening to Liberal / “Progressive” talk radio and some leftist legislators don’t think that’s fair & want legislation passed to force “progressive” shows back onto the radio whether anyone listens to them or not.
An example given was a station in Washington D.C. - a very liberal city that elected a drug addict for Mayor more than once & had no problem with it) - 1260 on the dial. Due to the overwhelming popularity of the current resident at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, the station was named “OBAMA 1260″ and featured an all liberal / progressive format. While the conservative talk station in town doubled its ratings, “OBAMA 1260″’s numbers tanked to the point of not being measureable.

I think the only way to keep the Liberals on the radio seems to be to stick them all on NPR. The shows can’t hold their own on public, advertisor-sponsored radio, so tax supported radio is what’s left. The idea of my taxes (already being wasted by Washington) being used to pay for radio programs that no one wants to listen to….just to keep things “fair”, does not sit too well with me.
Here in Phoenix, we had the above mentioned liberal / progressive format on 1480AM. I would listen to it every once in a while…usually for a good laugh. A couple weeks ago, I turned the station on & found the format had changed to “1950’s & 1960’s Lounge Music”. I guess no one in Phoenix was listening to them either & it was either change format or go bankrupt.

Since NPR is already a progressive network, it would seem natural for such content there.

The brownnoser in the white house

Like a turd on a maggot

Why Are AIG’s Contracts Sacrosanct But Not Union Workers’ Contracts?
Apparently, the supreme sanctity of employment contracts applies only to some types of employees but not others. Either way, the Obama administration’s claim that nothing could be done about the AIG bonuses because AIG has solid, sacred contractual commitments to pay them is, for so many reasons, absurd on its face.
Last month, Democratic Congressional leaders stripped from the stim bill a stringent proposal to force bailed-out companies to rescind bonuses to executives. That proposal, by GOP Senator Olympia Snowe and Dem Senator Ron Wyden, would have retroactively recovered “all cash bonuses to bailout recipients that exceeded $25,000,” Schor reminds us, and “could have prevented much of the current AIG flap.”
But Jake Tapper reminds us of WH assurances that they knew just where all the bailout money for AIG was going and what it was used for. They asked for another $30 billion for AIG two weeks ago, and Tapper asked Gibbs if they knew what happened to the money AIG had already raked in… This sort of flies in the face of earlier reports of how outraged BHO is over those bonuses.
Not long ago, after a string of especially bad days for the Obama administration, a veteran Democratic pol approached me with a pained look on his face and asked, “Do you think they know what they’re doing?” The question caught me off guard because the man is a well-known Obama brownnoser. As we talked, I quickly realized his asking suggested his own considerable doubts. Yes, it’s early, but an eerily familiar feeling is spreading across party lines and seeping into the national conversation. It’s a nagging doubt about the competency of the White House.

Wewt!

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 7:07 am

I’m talking with Crystal right now and I’m super excited. I just figured out Jeremy’s entire Christmas and Birthday present, since his birthday is five days after Christmas. Well, I don’t have the entire thing planned but still, I’ve got most of it. Yay for me!

For Christmas I’m going to get him a really nice gold watch, and get an inscription on the inside. Something short and sweet so that he’ll think of me every time he checks the time. Maybe, “With love, A.” or something of that nature, or with the date we started dating or something. Not sure yet, but either way, I know he wants a watch, and his class ring is gold so I figured that way he’d match. Then I was thinking some nice cologne, guys like that kind of stuff, right?

Well, for his Birthday I want to bake him a bunch of stuff. I was thinking of a cake, obviously, and some type of assortment of cupcakes, cookies, and brownies, that I can decorate myself and make it a real from the heart kind of gift. Plus, we could take some over to his families houses and they’d be able to see how much I care for him. =). And I was thinking maybe a cookie tin or a basket that I could wrap up in clear plastic… stuff, and make it look all professional like? I do kind of want to get him an actual gift for his birthday too though, so I’m not sure yet. Any ideas?

I think with the baking idea, I’ll use Thanksgiving as an excuse to find out what kind of desserts and things he likes. Like, “Hey hunny, do you like such and such, because we might be having it at Thanksgiving.” hehe. I’m evil, but brilliant!

Anyhow, just wanted to jot that down so I wouldn’t forget it. (Doubtful that I would, though.) And now I’m going to head to bed since I’ve got to be up in order to get ready fork work in about nine hours. Goodnight, world. =)

A NEW DAY………….

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 4:49 pm

this is a new day. bless the Lord o my soul and all that is within me. Bless His wonderful name.

I have told myself that today is to be the beginning of a new day. I have all intentions of exercising and tanning when I get done here. then I plan to clean the front room up and wash up a load of laundry. It’s all gotta be done this a.m. as we have a horse club meeting at 3 pm this afternoon. THere are 2 clubs interested in our joining…………..but because bill has some personal conflict in the one I want to join………..we are destined to join the 2nd inviting club. they’re both good clubs. I just wish I could join the first one instead. It’s my preferred interest.

I must mess with Dollar today. He’s getting bigger and stronger. I’ve gotta make sure he’s beginning to respond to vocal cues soon or he’ll be too big for me to manhandle. especially when it comes to having him lay down.

tv evangelist! argh! that’s all that’s on Sunday’ mornings. they say some wonderful sounding things…………..then they hit you up for a thousand dollars. Just 50 people …..if they’d just send a thousand dollars…………….they will be blessed……..stulff like that irritates me. I really like the indian blessings that Crow puts on her entries. they’re humbling to me. Yea….go ahead and send that grand . the only one getting blessed is gonna be that rich preacher. while you’re sitting there wondering where your bill money’s gonna come from.

Ok so that’s

TRUCK………..

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 4:49 pm

we got the rest of our paper work together last night. today i have to go get copies of a couple of things, but we’ll go after bill gets off work this afternoon and pick up my truck. i’m excited!

I’m torn about billy. I just can’t figure out what it is I feel. I’m supposed to “love ” him, but i don’t think I do. How can I go thru life living with a man I’m not in love with? It’s a financial thing that keeps me hanging on. I just don’t know what to do. being on SSDisability - getting a real job is out of the question, so I’m just flat stuck………….unless I get a job under the table, so to speak. I have business cards, but no one is biting. I do tractor work, have a place to board horses, and I train young horses. I just don’t know what the good Lord wwants of me. I don’t know where my life is supposed to go. I feel lost this morning.

Painting “in the history of the cattle”

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 8:35 am

This is in Tengzhou walking on the street. Buddies a child, a tall, like me buddy, bloated children, a seat, a seat for the people of the rest. The children were swept buddies … …, if “the bull” the word, should be “the most in the history of cattle accounted for child seat,” … …

I have seen begging, begging, but such a professional team for the first time I see. This is my long ago in a photograph of the marriage market. Hand-held East and West is the son of the buddies, “Public Relations Manager,” he’s behind it, several women, and the bike is the master of his backing of his staff. Although he is on crutches computer I wonder whether he is really unable to work. I do not doubt that behind these “aunt” figure is completely level with working capacity.

“Public Relations Manager,” the main suspect’s house to the limited for a long time do not want to leave. The main house and asked: “Do you know what price is now Tengzhou abuse it.” Until the main house gave only two smoke Xing Xing’s departure. Unfortunately, I did not put his money a few scenes shot down … …. Here, I would become known as “the most in the history of cattle begging”

VS aged woman

A single 33-year-old girlfriend in earnest warned me to timely Xing Yue, unspoken words of youth is no more. By this age she would like to enjoy life only somewhat Youxinwuli.

Woman’s age is a very delicate things, seems to be a difference two years, the mentality of all but one.

25-year-old, a real adult mean, I feel the world is at the foot of vast world accomplish much, but in girls and women between the embarrassment is also terrible.

28-year-old, is an awakening of the nodes, the word before the beginning of flying in general have passed, love on a number of no-Zhengguo, Bushangbuxia cause, but also as early as the green is not Chuchumaolu Xiaoniu, Mature in the name of Zhengjingbabai Fell on his head, can no longer treat their casual, fitness, beauty, SPA, shopping, tourism…… do not want a fall, is also reluctant to re-Kuidai themselves.

30-year-old woman, no longer hovering wavering, because time is precious; will not hesitate uncertain, since it has been very understanding of their own, nor do distant pipe dream, because life has been spent a long period of time and facts to tell their own That is impossible. To recognize their own deficiencies, in the face of their inner needs, not to any other person living in the decision, only loyal to themselves, on their own responsibility, which is 30-year-old woman at the time and really should be the objective.

Likes to read before the two classic film "Before Sunrise" (Before Sunrise) and "Before Sunset" (Before Sunset), perhaps each of the 23-year-old woman have done "before sunrise" as the dream: Met on a train perfect Valentine’s fate for this life. However, the reality is that more and more of the 32-year-old woman in the face "before sunset," the story: the men have loved the family, and you Jieranyishen, passion forgotten in a corner, to a certain undefended When jumped out to sternly crack down on you.

Perhaps you can not have the time in the 23-year-old rushed to the station predestined, but, in the 30-year-old, you can go to the places you want to go
